                 1940's Theme Day

               5th September, 2009

The Ingleton Home Guard were asked to guard a German UXB outside the Church in Heywood, until the Bomb disposal experts arrived. We had the local newspaper reporter along to interview us. Then when the Bomb stopped ticking and started to smoke, The Manchester M Television camera crew came along and filmed us.

After this we made our escape down to the local Church Hall for tea and sandwiches. While there, we were roped into supporting Elaine, alias (Gracie Lands), do the afternoon tea dance. Re-enactors and locals joined in with us to have a good knees up.

A small but good event for a first time, Ian Beddoes the organiser plans to do it again next year. A few military vehicles turned out to help the event. The Centurion tank taking up all the parking spaces!

Let no man come between a man and his pipe.....

"Stand and deliver,    your tobacco or your life."
